The Christmas spirit is rife in the blogging community this year.  Like a virtual game of pass-the-parcel, Christmas tag is spreading from blog to blog as we approach the big day. Each Christmas jumper wearing, mince-pie consuming blogger is challenged to answer a few fun Christmas questions. There are no prizes – just layer upon layer of great blogs to follow. Help to spread the Christmas cheer by following each blog as you go.

The holly encrusted gauntlet has been thrown down to me by fellow home educator Katie who writes Living Life Our Way

What’s your favourite Christmas movie?

‘Jingle All the Way’. What’s not to love about Arnie fighting a fake Santa and dressing up as a superhero? It amuses me every year and makes me cry.

Have you ever had a white Christmas?

Yes. In 2004 it snowed on Christmas day. I remember vividly as it was my eldest boys first Christmas.

Where do you usually spend your holiday?

At home. I would love to save up to go away if only to avoid having to cook! This year we are visiting parents so I won’t have to cook everything – yey!

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Tough question. ‘A Fairytale in New York’ by the Pogues or ‘Don’t The Bells End’ by The Darkness. Probably the latter as it was playing as I gave birth to my second son.

Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?

Not in the past however my boys are a bit older plus we’ve been learning about German traditions. In Germany presents are given on Christmas Eve so maybe this year we’ll open a little one each.

Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?

I can name the Jingle All the Way Reindeer – Balthazar !

Which holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?

Putting the letters to Santa up the chimney. We are a bit late this year but my 7-year-old has already spoken to Santa in person so it’s more of a formality.

Is your Christmas tree real or fake?

Fake. It’s a 9 ft black tree.  This is the first year that I’ve not had a tree in every room – I’ll get my act together next year. We used to always have real ones but clearing up needles was a pain.

What is your all time favourite holiday treat/food/sweet?

Gluhwein  and Lebkuchen . Oh but then cherry liqueurs, Christmas pud and brandy sauce – this question is too hard.

Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?

Giving. Receiving gifts always makes me feel guilty. Watching my children squeal with delight brings me so much joy it’s ridiculous.

What is the best Christmas present you ever received?

My middle son who arrived in December. That Christmas was the best ever.

What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?

I’d like to visit the Christmas markets in Germany but I’d also like to go to Lapland.

Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?

Awful. What a massive waste of paper and time. I always end up in a mulled wine fuelled panic on Christmas Eve night frantically wrapping and cursing!

Most memorable Christmas moment?

Seeing Father Christmas on the landing outside my bedroom when I was tiny. It was only a glimpse but I saw him and heard the sleigh bells.

What made you realise the truth about Santa?

What truth? That he’s magic or that he’s also the Odin of Norse mythology?

What makes the holidays special for you?

Family, food and fun.

I am tagging Sarah at Let Them Be Small , Donna at What The Redhead Said, Kelly at Adventures in Tea and Cake , Lisa at Mammascribbles, Paige at Paige’s Preferences and Catherine at Mamma Cat & Baby Bee.
