‘The Learning Garden – My First Books’ by Aino-Maija Metsola.

There are three brand new additions to the already eye-catching Learning Garden children’s book series – ‘My first Words’, ‘My First Colours and Shapes’ and ‘My First Animals’.

The series, which has received international acclaim, has been published in sixteen languages worldwide and it’s easy to see why. Each book has been created with children’s developmental stages in mind. The bold, blocky design of each page is instantly appealing to children of all ages. Aino-Maija is the lead artist for the Finnish design brand Marimekko and brings her iconic illustration style to these books. Each title in the series is stimulating and entertaining helping to capture children’s imaginations.

In ‘My First Words‘ the vocabulary is organised into activities from throughout the day to help toddlers recognise words in everyday situations. Children will be familiar with the objects they see in their daily life such as a bed, book, bath and the moon on the bedtime page.Searching for the items as they carry the book along with them will provide not only a great learning experience but also hours of fun.

My First Colours and Shapes‘ features objects of the same colour on every page. The vibrant images on each full colour spread engage youngsters helping them draw similarities between animals, plants and items of the same colour and shape.

My First Animals’ is ordered by habitat helping children understand where some of their favourite animals come from. There are cute and cuddly mammals as well as zig-zag patterned snakes to marvel at.

The cover of the book is tactile with raised print for little ones to touch and feel. The board book is extremely high quality and is robust enough to stand a wipe down after jammy hands have pored over the contents.

The Learning Garden series is perfect for inquisitive young minds and a wonderful way to teach children about their first concepts.
